I’m Chelsy, a homeschooling mom of two for the past nine years and a math enthusiast at heart. Along the way, I discovered something amazing: I don’t just love math—I love helping students see math differently. Watching a student’s confidence grow and seeing that “light bulb moment” happen is what inspires me every day.
Why I Teach
What started as guiding my own kids through early arithmetic grew into a passion for helping students from elementary school through algebra. Over time, I realized math doesn’t have to feel overwhelming—it can actually make sense and even be fun!
My Approach
I know that learning math requires more than just numbers—it takes the right frame of mind. That’s why I weave mindset work into every session. Students don’t just get math help—they build confidence and focus using research-based strategies.
As a student of Nonviolent Communication, I bring needs-based language and a compassionate approach to tutoring. I tailor lessons to different thinking styles, helping kids feel understood and empowered to learn in a way that works for them.
Beyond the Numbers
When I’m not teaching, you’ll probably find me hiking Tahoe’s beautiful trails or spending time with my family. Just like climbing a mountain, learning math takes patience and the right support—and I’m here to help your child every step of the way.
